Lamentation Poem

This haiku was written this time last year. New Mexico was engulfed in wildfires in the north and the smoke filled the lowland desert. During that week, the massacre in Uvalde, TX occurred. Now a year later, after countless shootings throughout the U.S., two more mass murders in Allen and Brownsville TX have happened. This is a poem of lamentation, anger, and mourning:
