In the
aftermath of the earthquake in South Asia, let's add our prayers to the
countless cries rising to heaven for the loss of families and friends.

Almond Blossom (Vincent Van Gogh)
For All the Lost
Generations:
Father, you formed our first
father, Adam, out of the clay of the earth. You breathed the breath of
life in him, and he became a living being. And now, the same earth has
swallowed up, and taken away an entire generation of children. Breathe
your restoring life on the mothers of the disappeared:
Lord, hear our cry
Jesus, you slept in death within
the earth; a seed fallen, dead, and buried. Hear the cries of all
the generations buried under the rubble of earthquakes and even the
debris of our own lives. May we all rise out of the earth with you:
never to die again, for you are the Resurrection and the Life:
Lord, hear our cry
Holy Spirit,
empower your saints in the land to engage the needs of all the
earthquake victims. Make us angels of healing, comfort, and service to the
sick, bereaved, and hungry. Make us a firm foundation of grace and mercy
in the midst of all of the shakings in our lives and in our world.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: Hear Our Cry.
Amen.
