Finished Chapel Doors:

We call this "The Worship Door." It depicts important images that represent our interior life in Christ. If you have questions, e-mail us about their various meaning as the story is quite long, but interesting.

This is the exterior to the "Worship Door," with the ark of the covenant and the words of Jesus: "Be Opened!" in Aramaic.

This is the interior of our "Gospel Door" which represents our exterior life in Christ. It also references the fire of Irish monasticism being rekindled.

This is the exterior to the "Gospel Door" depicting the four living creatures Ezekiel saw represented by the four evangelists.

This is our "Desert Rain" door: The Southwest is probably one of the few places in the nation where the sun shines while it also rains.

This is a larger view of the exterior of the "Gospel Door." "Amor non tenet ordinem" is a reference to an Irish saint, Columbanus, whose "rule" was: "Love has nothing to do with order."

Because we built our own doors (out of pine), they continually shrink and expand according to humidity and heat conditions. We are not all that concerned because the straw bales give us an incredible amount of insulation from heat and cold. Last December (with the lowest temperature being about 15 degrees), without the heater being on, the house's lowest sustained temperature was 68 degrees! This last June, after several days of heat at 110 degrees, the highest sustained temperature in the house was 75!
