In the aftermath of a
chemical plant explosion in Harbin, China, and the consequent poisoning
of their waterways, let’s petition God’s throne on behalf of the
waterless city of millions
and the surrounding region.

The
Songhua River in Harbin, China
That
All the Streams Would Merge into One
Father, Creator of all things,
in the beginning, you caused the waters to
teem with an abundance of living creatures.
You saw what you made, and said how good it was to you.
You set man to tend your garden and to be stewards of the earth, but
we have polluted the streams and we are poisoned by our own hands.
Call us back to our genesis in you
where we walk with You on the shores of pure and living water.
Lord, send forth your Spirit to renew the
face of the earth
Jesus, Redeemer of all things,
You invite all who are thirsty to come to you,
and you give us living water which never fails.
Let the water that flowed from your holy side
wash over and flow into all the toxic streams of heart and nature:
Not just in China, but the entire world today.
You came to make all things new: Cause the nations to say,
“All our fountains are in you, Oh Pure and Living Water!”
Lord, send forth your Spirit to renew the
face of the earth
Holy
Spirit, liberator of all things,
You are the river that flows from the heavenly throne
making the City of God glad. Move upon
the heads of states throughout the world to act justly, preserving
environments in which the thirsty receive clean water.
Mobilize your saints throughout the world to act as freshets
for all who thirst both in their souls and their bodies.
Renew the nations with the gospel of your pure and living water.
Lord, send forth your Spirit to renew the
face of the earth
In
the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
Amen.
