This is not the Rio Grande: It's Missile Road at the edge of our community land.

A few weeks ago (late July '05), we were all disappointed that a large thunderstorm had passed us by--it rained heavily in the foothills just west of us. We were sitting out watching the clouds when we heard the sound of rushing water. At the eastern edge of the property, an entire road had turned into a fast moving river. Bill Helm, not one to pass up adventure, quickly went into action and grabbed a kayak and challenged the raging waters for a couple of miles. Here's the film:
