Desert Gardening

"The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just on the body, but the soul."
-Alfred Austin

Desert Rain's Community Garden: Year Four

Unfortunately, we are no longer able to call our community garden "organic" because its location is too close to exhaust from automobiles. We let the soil rest last year, and this year we are growing various fruits (grapes, strawberries, watermelon, and cantaloupe) and vegetables (onion, squash, tomatoes, peppers, etc.) with the use of a drip system. We will open a spot in the deeper desert at a future time and begin an organic garden experiment that will hopefully lead to an organic certification.
 Photos to come.
