Straw Bale Building Updates - Roof: Page 3
 |
The metal went up pretty well in one day. We had two guys on the ground handing it up to three people on the roof. We put
6 foot wide rolls of R-11 insulation that sit under the metal.
The metal was 18 foot strips x 3 foot wide, screwed into the
wood 2x4 perlins. |

We closed in the sides of the trusses with 1/2 blackboard.
Eventually the stucco will cover the walls all the way up to the
top of the blackboard. The eves will be closed in later with a
thin wood paneling or similar material. (We haven't decided
yet.) |

And here's big red with most of her 2,000 screws!! |

These are the rough window bucks that will be set into the
walls when we start stacking the bales. They will be held into
the walls by wooden dowels and/or nailed to nearby posts. An
inner window frame will be added when the window is about to be
put in. |
