Lent
2010
Lenten ("40 days") Season:
Pathways, Doors, and Windows
According to Biblical tradition, Moses stayed on Mount Sinai forty
days to receive the Law of the Covenant. Our Lord fasted forty days in the desert
before He began his public mission. From the ancient church up to this day, countless
Christians all over the world prepare themselves to celebrate the paschal mystery
of our Lord's death and resurrection by entering into this forty day repentant season
of humility. We journey in the Spirit with Jesus in His wilderness temptation, His
transfiguration, His rejection by the chief priests, His suffering, crucifixion,
and burial. As we enter into the spiritual realities of these ever present events
in the earthly life of Christ, we experience a profound depth of implosive and explosive
joy at His resurrection from the dead.
Join us in our contemplation of Lent 2010. May the Holy Spirit use the scriptures,
images, meditations, and prayers to transport you through new passageways, doors,
and windows along your interior journey into Christ.
