Asia Prayer

In the aftermath of a devastating cyclone that swept through Bangladesh, let's pray a prayer of solidarity with the millions who are suffering with the death of their loved ones, loss of their homes, and destruction of their crops.

Stormy Sea with Blazing Wreck (J. M. W. Turner)

For All the Windswept

Father, in the beginning, you breathed the wind of your life
into man, and we became a living being. Receive back
the breath of life of all those who lost their lives in the storm:

May they find safe haven in your bosom.

Jesus, in your humanity, you rebuked the storm winds,
and the sea became calm-yours to command. Release
the gift of your presence to everyone who is windswept:

May they find peace in you.

Holy Spirit, you are the powerful, rushing wind that sweeps
over all flesh-the gift from the Father. Empower your
saints in the land to be agents of comfort and charity:

May they find love to give from you

Father, Son, and Spirit: Bring a new day of hope
to all those who have suffered under angry storms
of nature, or of oppression, or of all manner of sicknesses:

May we all be carried in the current of You

Amen.
