This summer, we believe the Holy
Spirit is inviting us to center our prayers and contemplation on
receiving a renewed love for Christ in our hearts and community. We
don't seek a passion for God as much as a passion
from God. Therefore, we begin this journey by gazing into the
heart of God Himself. When John the Revelator encountered the glorified
Jesus, he saw that "his eyes were like a flame of fire" (Rev. 1:14).
This likeness of fire is the passion and zeal of God. As we celebrate
the Eucharist, we seek this fire (the presence of Christ) at the Lord's
Table. As we practice
Lectio
Divina of the Scriptures this summer, we will seek this fire
(revelation) within the written word of God. As we pray and work on our
desert land, we will connect to the original fire (intent) of God in
creation. As we serve one another and our surrounding community this
summer, we will honor the fire (image) of God within everyone we meet.
Our Sunday evening gatherings
will be times of extensive worship and ministry. We will be gathering
around the bonfire under the stars in the Celtic and Native American
traditions using drums to worship our Creator. We will be hosting
retreats for groups who will be visiting throughout the summer. Also, on
Sunday evenings, we hope to feature guest speakers and musicians from
various churches around the area.
