Let's add our prayers to the cries of the family and friends of Kelsey Smith whose life on earth was senselessly taken away. Though words could never heal the intensity of their grief--may faith, hope, and love overcome despair in the difficult years to come.

For the Children who Never Came Home

Father, you breathed Kelsey into life from the center of your love: on the island of your heart. She was cut down by evil before her time-- Receive her back on the shores of that original innocence and ancient beauty.

Lord, become a healing wind for the afflicted

Jesus, in your suffering, you became a fallen seed: dead and buried in the earth. Cause the power of your death and rising to fill the incredible emptiness and despair Kelsey’s family and friends are experiencing.

Lord, become the seed of hope planted deep in those who mourn.

Holy Spirit, you are the river of life for families in desolation. Let your streams of mercy carry this prayer to the Smith family—and for all the families whose children never came home. Gather us back into the Father’s house.

Lord, become the fountain of justice that washes away all darkness.

Amen.
