The Eternal Gardener
(Posted: 4/6/08)

God's mission to you, is to others, for you. The seed of God planted in man, was done for God's own good pleasure. Growing the individual seed that God gives men enters us into that very act. We, for our own good pleasure are sent by God to serve and tend to other souls, in innumerable ways. Gardening for example, is a simple outward service I do in which a seed like a soul, is intentionally cared for and served. However many productive approaches to gardening there may be, this sacred act of tending and caring requires direct intention toward the growth of the seed. As I begin my morning watering the first ten minutes are slow and empty, and I usually begin to think of alternative ways to my watering duties. The next fifteen minutes of watering take me away to my daydreams where God hijacks my imagination, speaks to my heart of things that water my soul, or the  individual seed he planted in me at my birth. All too soon watering is done, and I have grown with the seed I planted in the soil, feeding my internal seed by feeding an outward seed. I entered the sacred community of  the beginnings of creation, by growing with the seed I planted, rather than managing the seed God sends me to sow. God's mission to you is to others and the growth of others. Still the first gardener is always tending, not managing his gardens.
