Be Still
Desert diary from Monday, February 02, 2004

I am the type of person who has to be constantly doing something. Some would say I am Martha's twin. I desire to be like Mary, Martha’s sister, but I always seem to find something in my “in” box.

I just gave birth to our fourth son. Having a newborn reminds me the importance of rest.
The day seems to go by so fast and the nights so slow.
We all need a certain amount of rest or we can become grumpy and on edge. Even God rested on the 7th day.
In all my running around to get things done through the day I am reminded every three hours to stop and rest. True I have a baby attached to my breast but I am resting and I notice that the world does not fall apart if I stop to rest.

So now even though I stay pretty busy, I try to take a moment to lift up a prayer of thanks to God and smell the roses. I try to notice the little things like a sunset, a sunrise, or the quiet stillness of the day. I try to make every moment of every day a prayer up to God and then in the mist of this hectic life take a moment to rest and remember to be still and Know that He is God
