Springtime in the Heart
“Lent” comes from the Saxon word for “spring.” Last evening we were
awakened by a heavy downpour which is a sign of the spring rains coming.
It’s also a sign that our exposed straw walls are now wet which is not a
good thing. Lord, help us.
I went out to the crosses around 6:45 or so—but like most of the time
EVERYONE else were NO SHOWS. The comedown is I don’t get “extra points”
with God either—oh well. As the wet winds rip through my jacket, I
realize that EVERYONE else was practicing WISDOM. My great revelation
for the morning was that it’s cold! Not much else.
In times like these, we do have one thing—the asking of the Lord for the
“rains in spring” (Zach 10:1). If we ask for renewal in times of
coldness—the Lord is faithful to bring a springtime of the heart. We
must, however, be prepared to for this spiritual renewal to be
accompanied by unexpected storms and winds.
-Let us acknowledge the LORD;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.”
-Hosea 6:3
