A Prayer for my Son on his Birthday

Lord,

Thank you for my youngest son,
Thank you for his smile,
Happy, choppy, bouncy, never slowing,
Innocent, giving, hugging, touching,
Play till he drops, play that never stops.

Observing the world with new eyes,
Following your brothers, yet making your own way,
Figuring things out,
Making due with what you find,
Seeds of contentment, ingenuity, creativity,
Sprouts of generosity, giving, simplicity,
You are my son, I love you dearly.

 May the Lord increase His spirit in you,
May you grow in knowing and loving him as I do and your brothers before you,
May you know His gentle hand and see His gentle smile,
May you feel his urging you to greater friendship,
May you always feel a special place in our family and at His table.

 I bless you my son and the many wonderful traits growing in you,
I love who the Father has knit you to be and who you are becoming,
Be blessed this day my son,
Be blessed this year my son,
Be blessed this lifetime my son,
The Father has truly blessed me with you.
